"I will go before
you, and make straight the crooked ways; I will break the gates of brass, and
break the bars of iron. " Isaiah 45: 2
The ways of the world
are crooked and dangerous. In His plan to straighten and sanctify the ways of
the world, the Lord God selects the people who will be His instruments. In His
sovereignty, the Lord blesses the world by calling Cyrus king of Assyria as
much as by using Peter, a simple fisherman. And what He granted to Cyrus
guarantees for each one of us that we accept to be His disciples. "I will
go before you and straighten the crooked paths. I will break the gates of brass
and break the bars of iron "(Isaiah 45: 2).
For many of us the
tendency is to plan our own way, and when we perceive difficulties and
obstacles, we are only now calling on the Lord's help. The Lord knows this. It
was He who created us with our limitations. Not to humiliate us, but as an
educational resource, which always helps us to better understand our dependence
on the Lord.
Educational psychology
teaches us that we learn a lot, when we recognize our mistakes and analyze
them. Disciples of Christ are blessed because they can be assured of the Lord's
leadership on the "path that leads to life." Christ called us to follow
him, in a world full of "crooked paths." We have a God who is ahead
of us and who straightens out our many deviations.
